Every time I fish, I expect to catch a fish. It is the same feeling I get when I close my eyes at night...I expect to wake in the morning with my beard on my face. It is, though, entirely possible that my wife could shave my beard during my sleep, so it is possible that I might not catch a fish, right?
My last BASS club tournament occurred on Bone Lake just to the east in Polk County, Wisconsin. I suffered the worst fate as a bass tournament angler...I got skunked. Not to mention I helped to skunk my dad who was fishing from the back of the boat. I made the decisions, positioned the boat, and made accurate casts that caught nothing. Weak sauce.
It pissed me off. Now what to do.
Here's what I'm thinking...
If I get skunked in a tournament again this 2012 season, I will shave my beard.
No excuses. Just photo proof.
I have owned this beard for quite some time now. Not an easy decision, but necessary.
This Saturday will be my first test on a lake known for lots of small fish. Just one over 14" will save my face, but not necessarily my pride.
Highs and lows. Kinda like life. I expect to catch a keeper fish this Saturday. If I don't, you'll see a new me.
"Like" BassMN's Facebook Page and you will be entered to win a prize. Leave a comment and you will be entered twice. If you don't fish, I'll send you a gas card. If you fish, a sweet Rod Slick from Clam Outdoors and some Tonka Tackle Halo Craw Tubes and Deadsticks.
Thanks for the support. I will post a before photo soon.
