Exciting News!! My New GSP was born!

On Feb. 25th, a litter of German Shorthaired Pointers were born, and one of them will be my faithful hunting companion for years to come!! I am so excited and I just had to post a few photos. If you would like to see more photos and the parents of the pups, please visit http://www.lakeview-kennel.com/. The Dam is Greta and owned by my good friend's parents, Dr. Mark and Polly Norman. They bred her with a stud named Rev, who is from the Sharpshooters Kennel and has a history of breeding excellent hunters and field trial dogs. I am planning on training this pup to participate in the natural ability trials and hopefully will be a field champion some day. I would like to thank the Normans in giving me this wonderful opportunity to own such a great dog with an outstanding pedigree. I am looking forward to growing with this dog over the years and I can't wait to get the pup home. Also, I can't wait to see her with her first bird in her mouth!

Thanks.

Bassmaster Classic Picks

Day 1 is almost over and it is looking like a poor showing for KVD. I knew I should've kept him off my roster for this tournament. However, it's not over yet so I will keep my cool. Below are my fantasy picks for the Red River.

1. Kevin VanDam
2. Edwin Evers
3. Kelly Jordan
4. Scott Rook
5. Matt Herren

So far it looks like Evers, Jordan, and Rook are in the top 10 for Day 1. This is of course unofficial. We will see how it all plays out at the weigh-in, as some may be estimating a little small on their BassTrak. Matt Herron seems to be in the middle of the pack with only 4 fish for 9 lbs and KVD is darn close to the bottom. There are a few moments left, so maybe he can haul in a few fish. I'm excited for the weigh-in and watching the first day on ESPN2 tomorrow morning.

FLW Lake Guntersville Fantasy Results

Well, after the first FLW tournament, I am almost embarrassed to post my results. However, this is my first year entering the FLW fantasy fishing contest, so my knowledge of the anglers is quite low. I am hoping for better results for the next tournament, but as you will see, I really can only improve. Below are my anglers and results for each league.

1. ANDY MORGAN 19 182
2. RANDALL THARP 21 180

Minnesota Fed. of Bass Anglers 31 of 36

Overall Rank 37,604

Wow, that was tough. Ok, so the first tournament is out of the way, and I now realize that it is all about the Top 10s.

This weekend kicks off the Bassmaster Classic, which always tends to be a fun tournament to watch. I think my picks are pretty good, so we will see. It will be nice to see some bass fishing on ESPN again, however, they definitely need more coverage. It amazes me that with that network, they won't give BASS more exposure. Hopefully they will come around soon.

Stay tuned. Watch the classic, and enjoy.

Lake of the Woods Walleye Trip at Arnesen's Lodge

A great time was had by all at Arnesen's Rocky Point Lodge located on the infamous Lake of the Woods. Buzz, Doug(Buzz's Dad), Dirty(Dave), and myself (Skip) headed up early Friday with great anticipation to catch some walleye for the frying pan. The hot colors seemed to be orange, red/pink, and gold. We caught many fish, and I think we counted 56 total fish on Sunday, but only kept 14 walleye/sauger and 1 jumbo perch. Although we had hoped to bring home more to eat, we had an excellent time. Here are some photos of some of our catches.

Here's Doug with a nice 17incher...

And Buzz with a few for the frying pan...

I caught the largest keeper of the weekend, a solid 19incher. Posing with Doug and Dirty...

Here is a quick video that shows the excellent accomodations provided to us by Arnesen's. We had 2 bedrooms, living room, and full kitchen plus utencils. The guides were great and really wanted us to catch fish...even offered to move us if we wanted when the fishing was slow. I recommend this resort to all, and I'm sure I will visit again to chase those walleyes...

Thanks for visiting!
